So, my husband has his varicocele corrected on July 23rd. We went in a week ago for a semenalysis and though his count went up to 30 million per/ML, his motility is only 14%.
Unfortunately, it looks like it's IVF for us. I'm devastated. The cost is prohibitive and yet, we have to do what we have to do. We will be taking out loans. I'm distressed, depressed, anxious, and stressed. I feel alone and unhappy.

you are definitely not alone. i am sorry to hear that the varicocele surgery was not more successful. although it's amazing how much your husband's count has increased since your first posting. but i guess that may not be enough and coupled with the lower motility... ugh! how frustrating.
ReplyDeletemy husband had the same procedure done a few weeks before your husband. after the surgery, his count dipped a bit (which was about 1 million to begin with i think), but his motility increased. he's going in for another semen analysis at the end of january. we'll decide next steps when we get the results of that analysis.

it might be beneficial to both of us as we share the ups and downs of this journey. i am confident that we will get pregnant. i'm not thrilled about the ivf process (meds, procedures, etc), but i've reached a point that i am willing to undergo all that is necessary for us to have a baby.
